On Saturday, September 28, over 1,000 runners from the Fredericksburg area came to Old Mill Park to participate in the 5th Annual Run for Food 5K to benefit the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank. This is the 5th year this race has been sponsored by the Fredericksburg stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help raise awareness and food for the hungry of our community. The total one day amount of food raised through this effort was 42,717 which will provide 35,598 meals back to the hungry right her in Planning District 16. This food drive is the third largest one-day food drive for the FAFB but it would not have happened without the efforts of the church leadership, Nicole Hebertson, Tom Carlisle, local merchants and the community. By working together we can solve hunger. Thank you to everyone who shared in this wonderful event.
