Fight Hunger. Spark Change.

From April 6 to May 3, 2015 Walmart is teaming up with some of America’s favorite food manufactures to fight hunger and spark change across the country. Through the 2015 Fight Hunger Spark Change campaign (formerly, Fighting Hunger Together) the public can raise money for Feeding America member food banks through three easy ways: in-store purchase, register donations and social media.

In-Store Purchase

One item helps provide one meal. Walmart is working with six of its top suppliers: Campbell’s, ConAgra Foods, General Mills, Kellogg’s, Kraft and Unilever with a goal to raise 75 million meals for Feeding America food banks. Between April 6 and May 3, the purchase of approximately 70 participating grocery products at Walmart will trigger a donation. For each product purchased, the manufacturer will donate $0.10 to Feeding America to help secure one meal on behalf of local member food banks, up to each manufacturer’s maximum donation. 100% of these funds will benefit the network.

Register Donation

Walmart customers will also be able to make donations at the register on behalf of their local Feeding America food bank. Signs at the register will invite customers to donate in increments of $1, $2, or $5. 100% of these funds will benefit the network.

Social Media

Share your smiles to raise funds for the entire Feeding America network! During the campaign, Walmart will raise awareness about the one in six people struggling with hunger in the U.S through a social media challenge. All food banks stand to benefit! Here’s how it works

  1. Take a picture of six people who commit to fight hunger
  2. Post the picture on either Facebook, Twitter or Instagram – use the campaign hashtag #wesparkchange.
  3. Make sure your post is public to ensure it can be counted
  4. Walmart will donate $10 for every qualifying post, up to $1.5 million!
  5. Share your post and encourage your advocates, volunteers and donors to participate

Walmart will kick things off by donating $1.5 million to Feeding America in honor of the campaign. This gift will be split 50%/50% with the national office and the network. During the campaign period, you can help earn an additional $1.5 million for member food banks across the country. Walmart will donate $10 per post, up to an additional $1.5 million! 100% of the earned donation will benefit the network.
