Altria Companies Employee Community Fund (ACECF) Awards Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank Funds to Help Seniors

Fredericksburg, VA – September 3, 2015: The Altria Companies Employee Community Fund (ACECF) has awarded $2.5 million in grants this year to 91 organizations in Virginia and on Tuesday, they awarded $17,228 to the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank for the Food for Life senior feeding program.

CEO, Oya Oliver stated “We are especially thankful to the ACECF for continuing to fund the Food for Life program because we know they had a record number of applications this year and they chose to support our seniors.”

The key element of this program funding is to provide food and hygiene items for over 2,000 Food for Life recipients. According to grant writer Dayna Klein “We have the staff and great volunteers to implement the program and we receive a variety of personal hygiene items from local merchants to supplement the food, grocery and produce included in each Food for Life box, but it is not always enough to provide for all participants. This funding will really help in providing for all of our FFL folks.”

If you know of a senior that would benefit from the Food for Life program or if you know of a senior in need of SNAP food assistance please contact the FRFB Agency & Programs Director Mishelle Krogstad at
