McDonald’s is Kicking-Off Band Together to Fight Hunger

All six Stafford area McDonald’s will be collection sites for this year’s Band Together to Fight Hunger Celebration!

From October 18th through November 6th, when you bring in a non-perishable donation you can choose to receive either a cookie or a cone at area McDonald’s while supplies last.

For the 7th year, Band Together to Fight Hunger will bring together marching bands from across Stafford County. Join us on Monday, November 6th at 7 pm, with a rain date of November 13, as our own talented musicians from Brooke Point, Colonial Forge, Mountain View, North Stafford, and Stafford High Schools “BAND Together to Fight Hunger” through a showcase of instrumental talent.  For one night only, over 400 kids will perform on the Mountain View football field to show what is possible when the greater community works together to provide food assistance to those in need.  Last year this event provided 28,000 meals for our community!  This year our goal is 30,000 meals and with your help, we know we can do it.

Mountain View High School is located at 2135 Mountain View Road in Stafford. Gates will open at 5:30 pm with a wide offering of concessions provided. Non-perishable food item donations are suggested.  Monetary donations are also happily accepted.  Come have dinner, hear the sounds of Stafford’s finest, and participate in a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds benefit the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank and provide food back to the hungry right here in our own community.

Our Feds Feed Lots of Families

Feds Feed Families USDASara Baucher (pictured) from the USDA was the first official Feds Feed Families donor to kick off this year’s donation process with 120 pounds of beautiful produce in June.

Throughout the summer we received donations from AEGIS BMD Missile Defense Agency in Dahlgren in the amount of 1,642 pounds, Defense Security Service in Quantico in the amount of 1,228 pounds and the Department of Defense / OUSPI in the amount of 839 pounds.  We then had to add the 768 pounds received from the Strategic Acquisition Center in Fredericksburg, the 299 pounds from the USDA in Fredericksburg , the Stafford DMV contribution of 65 pounds and the Department of US Treasury/IRS in Fredericksburg providing 79 pounds.  We closed the summer out strong with donations of 83 pounds from the Social Security office in Fredericksburg and a generous contribution from the NBIB-OPM in Stafford providing 333 pounds.  When you add all the Feds collected you will see they provided 5,456 pounds of food which will provide 4,547 meals to feed families.
