Legal Food Frenzy Winners

LegalFoodFrenzy_2017_color-01 (002)The FRFB would like to thank all the participants in this year’s Legal Food Frenzy for all their efforts on behalf of the hungry.   Together, enough food and funds from this event were collected to provide over 18,268 meals to the hungry of our community.  All participants were given points for the amount of food collected, funds collected, if they delivered the food/funds to the FRFB, early registration, and for volunteering.  When all the points were totaled the local top two winners from Planning District 16 are:    

1st Place – Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen (Fredericksburg & Stafford Office) with a grand total of 8,328 points; 

2nd Place – Hirschler Fleischer (Fredericksburg Office) with a grand total of 6,875 points;

3rd Place – Fredericksburg Public Defenders Office  with a grand total of 5,408 points;

4th Place – Fredericksburg Area Bar Association with a grand total of 5,000 points;

5th Place – Parrish, Snead, Franklin and Simpson with a grand total of 1,934 points; and

6th Place – Spotsylvania County Attorney Office with a grand total of 157 pounds.

Together these offices gathered enough food and funds to provide over 18,268 meals to help create a hunger-free community.  We thank each one of these offices for helping to double the number of meals provided this year over last year.  We want you to know how much this is needed and appreciated by those that are struggling and we thank you.

Legal Food Frenzy

LFF-logoThe Attorney General of Virginia, the Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association, and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks invite you to participate in the 2015 Legal Food Frenzy!

To date, the Legal Food Frenzy has raised the equivalent of over 10 million pounds of food. Help us raise even more by registering your firm, legal department, law school, or individual practice today! All winners will be invited to a special award ceremony with the Governor and Attorney General of Virginia.

Participating in the Legal Food Frenzy is easy. To get started, all you have to do is register online here. Once your firm or organization is registered, the individual(s) that you designate to lead your collection efforts will be contacted by a representative of your local food bank and by members of The Virginia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division who will provide your leader with customized food and fund collection materials.

This year’s Legal Food Frenzy was a big success!
Legal community doing their part to end hunger by providing 10,600 meals to the hungry

This year we had 7 teams compete in the Fredericksburg area working together to end hunger and here is how the top 3 teams did:

  1. Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen – Winner for the Fredericksburg region- with cash donations of $1,822 and food donations of 310 pounds will provide 5,700 meals to the hungry.
  2. Hirschler Fleischer with cash donations of $1055 and food donations of 3 pounds will provide 3,167 meals
  3. Parrish, Houck & Snead with cash donations of $421 and food donations of 7 pounds will provide 1,268 meals.

All participants were given points for the amount of food collected, funds collected, if they delivered the food/funds to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank, early registration, and for volunteering. The First Legal Food Frenzy Food Donations Arrive

2013-04-15 002 2013-04-15 003Tawnya Harvey stopped by on Monday to deliver the 29 pounds collected by the Fredericksburg Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.

2013-04-15 001 2013-04-15 003On Tuesday, Allen Bareford from the Fredericksburg Public Defender’s Office brought 44 pounds and a check in the amount of $251.50 to help provide over 1,000 meals back to the community.

The delivery of food and funds will continue for another week and we look forward to all of the good our legal community is providing to help end hunger. Thank you all!

Legal Food Frenzy Volunteer Event Brings New Volunteers

The 7th Annual Legal Food Frenzy Volunteer Event was a success. Legal offices had the opportunity to come to the FAFB for a tour, some light refreshments and a little bit of dirty work to see first-hand, hot vital every donation is in the fight to end hunger.
